The Balvenie is distilled in Dufftown, in the Speyside region of Scotland, and is owned by William Grant & Sons. The distillery malts some of its own barley on a traditional malting floor.

DoubleWood 12 is matured for 12 years in American oak casks and then finished for about nine months in European oak sherry casks. The two woods give it vanilla from the American oak and fruit and honey from the sherry casks.

What's the difference between Balvenie DoubleWood 12 and Caribbean Cask 14?
DoubleWood 12 is finished in European oak sherry casks. Caribbean Cask 14 is aged two years longer and finished in American oak casks that previously held West Indian rums, which makes it sweeter. Both are bottled at 43% ABV.
