Speyside Starter Trio

The Speyside Starter Trio is the friendliest introduction to single malt scotch there is. Speyside is the region that makes scotch approachable: orchard fruit, honey, vanilla, almost no smoke. These three distilleries sit within a few miles of each other and between them account for a huge share of all the single malt sold in the world.

• The Glenlivet 12 Year 750ML (80 proof): the original Speyside. Green apple, pear, honey, clean and light.
• Glenfiddich 12 Year 750ML (80 proof): the world's best-selling single malt. Ripe pear, oak, a touch of butterscotch.
• The Balvenie 12 Year DoubleWood 750ML (86 proof): finished in sherry casks. Honey, dried fruit, nutmeg, the richest of the three.

How to taste it

Glenlivet, then Glenfiddich, then Balvenie, neat, with a drop of water in each. You will taste the house styles diverge even though the grain, water and region are nearly identical.
