Production & Heritage
Q Mixers was founded in Brooklyn in 2007 by Jordan Silbert, who started making tonic in his kitchen because he could not find one good enough for a proper gin and tonic. The company builds every mixer around real ingredients and lighter sweetness so the spirit stays in front. Q uses quinine from the bark of Peruvian cinchona trees, organic agave for a clean sweetness, and extra carbonation so the drink stays lively. It carries far less sugar than a mainstream tonic, which is the point: the mixer should support the spirit, not cover it.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Crisp citrus and a dry, chalky quinine note with very little sweetness on the nose.
Taste: Sharply carbonated, clean and dry, with a firm quinine bitterness and a subtle agave sweetness that stays out of the way.
Finish: Dry, brisk and short, leaving the palate ready for the next sip.
How to Drink Q Mixers Tonic Water
Pour over plenty of ice in a tall glass at roughly one part spirit to two or three parts mixer. Keep it well chilled and pour gently to hold the carbonation.
Gin & Tonic: 2 oz gin, 4 to 5 oz Q Tonic over ice with a lime wedge. Vodka Tonic: Clean vodka with Q Tonic and a lemon twist. Tequila & Tonic: Blanco tequila, Q Tonic and a grapefruit slice.
Best For
- Gin drinkers who want the gin to show
- Low-sugar cocktails
- High-carbonation highballs that stay fizzy
- Sipping on its own over ice
