The Old Fashioned Kit is the full recipe in one box. No sugar cubes to crush, no muddling fruit, no running out for bitters. Four things, one glass, a drink that has been right for 150 years.

What's in the kit

• Woodford Reserve Kentucky Straight Bourbon 750ML (90.4 proof): the Old Fashioned's house bourbon. Enough rye spice and butterscotch to stand up to sugar and bitters.
• Luxardo Maraschino Cherries 14.1 oz: the real Italian Marasca cherries in thick syrup. Not the neon ones.
• Angostura Aromatic Bitters 4 oz: the original, since 1824. Non-negotiable.
• Angostura Demerara Sugar Syrup 12.7 oz: rich raw-sugar syrup that replaces the sugar cube and dissolves instantly.

The recipe

2 oz Woodford Reserve, 1/4 oz demerara syrup, 2 to 3 dashes Angostura. Stir with ice for 20 seconds, strain over one large cube, express an orange peel over the top, drop in a Luxardo cherry. Makes about 12 drinks per bottle of bourbon; the cherries, bitters and syrup will outlast several bottles.
