Description

No 3 London Dry Gin 750ML is a juniper-led London Dry gin bottled at 46% ABV in a 750ml bottle, created by Berry Bros. & Rudd. Named Supreme Champion Spirit at the 2019 International Spirits Challenge — the first gin ever to receive that distinction — No. 3 has earned the title of World's Best Gin four times.

Quick Facts: ABV: 46%  |  Origin: Distilled in Holland, Created in London, England  |  Style: London Dry Gin  |  Creator: Berry Bros. & Rudd (est. 1698)  |  Distiller: De Kuyper Royal Distillers

Production & Heritage

No. 3 was developed over two years in collaboration with Dr. David Clutton, the only person in the world to hold a PhD in gin. Berry Bros. & Rudd, London's oldest wine and spirit merchant founded in 1698, partnered with De Kuyper Royal Distillers in Holland — a family-owned operation with over 300 years of distilling expertise — to produce the spirit in a century-old, brick-encased copper pot still. The recipe uses just six botanicals — juniper, coriander, cardamom, angelica root, orange peel, and grapefruit peel — steeped for 16 hours in a neutral French winter wheat spirit before a seven-hour distillation. The deliberate choice of 46% ABV reflects the philosophy that gin needs to sit at or above 45% for its full flavors to emerge when mixed.

Tasting Notes

Aroma: Bright and crisp from the outset, with an uplifting rush of juniper that gives way to clean citrus — orange zest and grapefruit peel lift through the nose. A subtle floral quality rounds out the initial impression.

Taste: Juniper anchors the palate immediately, firm and piney without being aggressive. Mid-palate, warm cardamom spice emerges alongside zesty citrus, while coriander adds a peppery complexity. The French wheat base provides a smooth, slightly creamy texture that carries the botanicals without competing.

Finish: Medium-long, with the earthy dryness of angelica root pulling the gin toward a clean, structured close. Lingering notes of juniper and gentle spice stay present without overpowering.

How to Drink No. 3 Gin

At 46% ABV, No. 3 holds its botanical structure beautifully neat or over a single large ice cube, where the cardamom and juniper interplay becomes most apparent. It was purpose-built for classic mixed drinks, and three cocktails showcase it exceptionally well: a Martini, where the juniper-forward profile and higher proof cut cleanly through dry vermouth; a Negroni, where the earthy angelica root and citrus peels stand up against Campari's bitterness; and a classic Gin & Tonic, where the six-botanical simplicity produces a crisp, balanced long drink without muddying the tonic.

Best For

  • Gifting a gin enthusiast who values pedigree and proven awards
  • Building a serious home bar anchored by a benchmark London Dry
  • Hosting a Martini night with friends who appreciate spirit-forward cocktails
  • Introducing someone to juniper-driven gin after they have explored contemporary styles

Frequently Asked Questions

What does No. 3 Gin taste like? No. 3 is a decidedly juniper-forward gin with supporting notes of warm cardamom, citrus zest, coriander spice, and an earthy, dry finish from angelica root. It drinks clean and structured, with a slightly creamy mouthfeel from its French winter wheat base.

How does No. 3 Gin compare to Tanqueray No. Ten? Tanqueray No. Ten leans toward a more modern, citrus-driven and silky profile, while No. 3 stays rooted in a classic juniper-led London Dry character with spice complexity from cardamom and coriander. No. 3 also sits at 46% ABV compared to Tanqueray No. Ten's 47.3%, and uses just six botanicals versus Ten's broader botanical bill.

Is No. 3 Gin good for sipping neat? Yes — the 46% ABV is assertive enough to deliver full botanical expression without excessive heat, and the balanced interplay of juniper, cardamom, and citrus rewards slow, deliberate tasting.

Where is No. 3 Gin made? No. 3 Gin is created by Berry Bros. & Rudd in London, England, but physically distilled at De Kuyper Royal Distillers in Schiedam, Holland, using a century-old copper pot still.

What foods pair well with No. 3 Gin? Smoked salmon and juniper complement each other naturally; fresh oysters echo the gin's briny, citrus brightness; aged hard cheeses like Comté contrast the cardamom spice; herb-crusted lamb works with the earthy angelica notes; and citrus-dressed salads mirror the grapefruit and orange peel character.

What sizes does No. 3 Gin come in? No. 3 London Dry Gin is widely available in the standard 750ml bottle.

Is No. 3 Gin worth the price? No. 3 positions itself in the premium tier of London Dry gins, and its four World's Best Gin titles at the International Spirits Challenge, a 2025 Platinum Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition, and a 96-point Gold from the International Wine & Spirits Competition give it stronger competition credentials than most bottles at its price point.

Why No. 3 Gin?

Few gins arrive with the level of documented development behind No. 3 — a two-year collaboration with the world's only PhD-holding gin specialist, a deliberate six-botanical recipe distilled in a hundred-year-old copper pot still, and an ABV specifically calibrated for cocktail performance. The results speak through its competition record: four-time World's Best Gin, Supreme Champion Spirit in 2019, and a Platinum Medal at the 2025 San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Where many contemporary gins chase novelty through exotic botanicals, No. 3 takes the opposite approach — doing more with less, allowing juniper to lead and every other ingredient to justify its place. That restraint, combined with Berry Bros. & Rudd's three centuries of spirits expertise, makes it one of the most credible London Dry gins currently in production.
