A smoky, sweet, slightly spicy take on the Old Fashioned: Maker's Mark Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Angostura Spicy Honey Syrup, Fee Brothers Bacon Fat Wash and Angostura Aromatic Bitters. Maker's Mark's soft, wheated character lets the bacon's savory, smoky edge and the chili honey's gentle heat come through.
How to make one: add 2 oz Maker's Mark, 1/4 oz Spicy Honey Syrup, a bar spoon of Bacon Fat Wash (start small and adjust to taste, it is potent) and 2 dashes Angostura to a mixing glass with ice. Stir until well chilled, then strain over a large cube in a rocks glass. Garnish with an orange peel, or a strip of candied bacon if you want to show off.
