Description

Goose Island Variety 15Pk Cans is a 15-can assortment of five distinct Chicago-brewed beer styles, with ABVs ranging from 4.2% to 7%. The pack includes Goose Island IPA — a six-time award winner at the Great American Beer Festival — alongside four other expressions that span the brewery's core lineup.

Quick Facts: ABV: 4.2–7%  |  Origin: Chicago, Illinois  |  Style: Mixed Variety Pack (5 Styles)  |  Brewery: Goose Island Beer Company

Production & Heritage

Goose Island Beer Company operates from its production facility at 1800 W. Fulton Street in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood. The brewery runs a 50-barrel JV Northwest five-vessel brewhouse around the clock, supported by 32 fermenters, more than 15 different yeast strains, and state-of-the-art filtration and centrifuge equipment. Since 1989, Goose Island has collected awards at the Great American Beer Festival, World Beer Cup, World Beer Championships, and World Expo of Beer — and the brewery is credited with pioneering bourbon barrel-aged beer, a technique that defined an entire style over three decades ago.

What's in the Pack

Each 15-pack contains three cans of each of the following five beers: 312 Urban Wheat Ale, a bright, lemony, and creamy wheat ale brewed with Cascade hops; Goose Island IPA, the flagship India Pale Ale loaded with citrus, pine, and floral hop character and a gold medal winner at the 2012 Great American Beer Festival in the English-Style IPA category; Next Coast IPA, a tropical-leaning counterpart to the original IPA; Natural Villain Garage-Style Lager, a clean and approachable lager; and SPF Fruit Ale, a fruit-forward session beer built for warm-weather drinking.

Tasting Notes

Goose Island IPA: Medium-intense hop aroma with grapefruit rind, pine resin, and floral notes. The palate is slightly sweet on entry, transitioning to balanced bitterness through the mid-palate with a moderate lingering hop finish.

312 Urban Wheat Ale: Opens with a spicy Cascade hop aroma and subtle citrus. The body is creamy and light, with a crisp, fruity wheat character and a clean, refreshing finish.

Across the Pack: The five styles move from the light, bready lager and bright wheat ale through fruit-accented ale territory and into two distinct IPA profiles — giving drinkers a genuine range from sessionable to hop-forward.

How to Drink Goose Island Variety Pack

Each beer in this pack is best served chilled at 38–45°F, poured into an appropriate glass or enjoyed straight from the can. The 312 Urban Wheat works well in a Beer Shandy, mixed with fresh lemonade for a light warm-weather drink. Goose Island IPA holds its own in a Hop Drop 'n Roll-style cocktail, where its citrus and pine complement a splash of grapefruit juice. The SPF Fruit Ale makes a refreshing base for a Beer Spritz, topped with a measure of Aperol and a citrus wheel.

Best For

  • Stocking a cooler for a backyard cookout or tailgate
  • Introducing friends to a range of craft beer styles in a single purchase
  • Bringing a crowd-pleasing host gift to a party
  • Sampling across Goose Island's lineup before committing to a full six-pack of one style

Frequently Asked Questions

What does the Goose Island Variety Pack taste like? The five beers cover a wide spectrum — from the crisp, clean character of Natural Villain lager and the lemony creaminess of 312 Wheat Ale to the bold grapefruit, pine, and floral bitterness of Goose Island IPA and Next Coast IPA, with the fruity, lighter SPF Ale in between.

How does Goose Island compare to Revolution Brewing? Both are flagship Chicago breweries with award-winning IPA programs; Goose Island's IPA leans toward classic English-style citrus and pine hop profiles, while Revolution's Anti-Hero IPA tends toward a more assertively bitter, American hop-forward character. This variety pack offers broader style diversity than a typical single-style six-pack from either brewery.

Is the Goose Island Variety Pack good for beginners? Yes — the range of five styles, from mild lager and wheat ale to bolder IPAs, lets newer craft beer drinkers identify which profiles they enjoy without committing to a full pack of one beer.

Where is Goose Island beer made? Goose Island Beer Company brews at its production facility on West Fulton Street in Chicago's West Loop neighborhood, where it has operated since the late 1980s.

What foods pair well with the Goose Island Variety Pack? The 312 Wheat Ale pairs naturally with grilled fish or shrimp tacos, thanks to its bright citrus notes. Goose Island IPA complements spicy dishes like buffalo wings or Thai curry, where hop bitterness balances heat. Natural Villain lager works alongside classic burgers and bratwurst. SPF Fruit Ale suits lighter fare like ceviche or summer salads. Next Coast IPA stands up to richer foods like pulled pork or sharp cheddar.

What sizes does the Goose Island Variety Pack come in? This variety pack is available as a 15-pack of 12 oz cans, with three cans of each of the five included styles.

Is the Goose Island Variety Pack worth the price? It positions as a mid-range craft variety pack, and the inclusion of the award-winning Goose Island IPA alongside four other distinct styles delivers strong value per can compared to purchasing individual six-packs of each beer.

Why Goose Island Variety Pack?

The anchor of this pack is Goose Island IPA, a six-time Great American Beer Festival award winner and gold medalist in 2012 — a beer with genuine competitive credentials in the American IPA landscape. Beyond the flagship, the pack provides legitimate stylistic breadth: a wheat ale, a lager, a fruit ale, and a second IPA with a different hop profile. Goose Island's brewing operation — running 24 hours a day on a serious 50-barrel system with over 15 yeast strains — gives each style a level of technical consistency that casual craft drinkers and experienced beer enthusiasts both notice. For a single purchase that covers lawnmower lager through full-bodied IPA, this 15-pack earns its spot.
