Buffalo Trace Starter Set

The Buffalo Trace Starter Set is three bottles from the Frankfort, Kentucky distillery that people spend years trying to collect, together in one box. All three come off the same low-rye Mashbill #1, so this set is the cleanest way to taste what age and bottling strength do to the same base whiskey.

What's in the set

• Buffalo Trace Kentucky Straight Bourbon 750ML (90 proof): brown sugar, vanilla and light oak. The benchmark everyday bourbon.
• Eagle Rare 10 Year Bourbon 750ML (90 proof): the same mashbill aged a decade. Deeper toffee, leather, dried fruit and a long dry finish.
• Colonel E.H. Taylor, Jr. Small Batch 750ML (100 proof, Bottled in Bond): aged in Warehouse C, bottled at bond strength. Caramel corn, butterscotch and baking spice with more weight than either of the others.

How to taste it

Side by side, neat, in the order above. Buffalo Trace to Eagle Rare is the barrel talking; Eagle Rare to E.H. Taylor is the proof talking.

Best for

• A gift for a bourbon drinker who wants Buffalo Trace products without the hunt
• A home bar with one mixer, one sipper and one special-occasion bottle
• Anyone who has only ever found one of these on a shelf at a time
