Description
Tullamore Dew 375ML is a blended Irish whiskey bottled at 40% ABV (80 proof) in a convenient 375ml format. One of the few Irish whiskeys that blends all three styles — pot still, malt, and grain — this expression earned Gold and Best Buy honors at the 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards and an 88-point rating from Whisky Advocate.
Quick Facts: ABV: 40% | Origin: Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland | No Age Statement (Blended) | Distillery: Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery
Production & Heritage
Tullamore D.E.W. traces its roots to 1829, when the original distillery was established in Tullamore, County Offaly. After production moved away from the town for six decades, a new purpose-built distillery opened on the outskirts of Tullamore in 2014, returning the whiskey to its birthplace. The blend combines triple-distilled pot still, malt, and grain whiskeys, then matures them across three cask types — ex-bourbon barrels, ex-sherry casks, and traditional refill barrels — a triple-blend, triple-distilled, triple-cask approach that remains relatively uncommon in Irish whiskey.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Toffee and creamy banana greet the nose first, followed by sharp green apple and zested lime. Aromatic spices — particularly peppercorn — weave through a backdrop of light vanilla and malty sweetness.
Taste: The entry is sweet and delicate, led by green apple and candied fruit. At mid-palate, vanilla fudge and malty cereal notes build weight. Peppery spice arrives at the peak, revealing the pot still character underneath the grain's smoothness.
Finish: Medium in length with a gentle spiciness that expresses the pot still component clearly. Lingering notes of soft wood and citrus zest fade cleanly, leaving a dry, slightly peppery close.
How to Drink Tullamore Dew
Neat or with a small splash of water is the simplest way to appreciate the interplay of all three whiskey styles. A single large ice cube opens up the sweeter fruit notes without diluting the spice. Beyond sipping, consider these cocktails:
- Irish Coffee — The smooth, malty profile integrates seamlessly with hot coffee and brown sugar without overwhelming the cream.
- Whiskey Sour — Green apple and citrus zest character harmonizes naturally with fresh lemon juice and simple syrup.
- Highball — Light body and subtle sweetness make this an easy, refreshing long drink with quality soda water and a lemon twist.
Best For
- Introducing someone to Irish whiskey for the first time
- Packing for a weekend trip or outdoor gathering where glass size matters
- Sampling before committing to a full 750ml bottle
- Mixing Irish-style cocktails at home without a large investment

How does Tullamore Dew compare to Jameson? Both are entry-level blended Irish whiskeys at 40% ABV, but Tullamore Dew uniquely blends pot still, malt, and grain whiskeys together — Jameson blends pot still and grain. Tullamore Dew tends to show more malty sweetness and fruit, while Jameson leans slightly more toward floral and vanilla character.
Is Tullamore Dew good for beginners? Its smooth, light body and approachable sweetness make it one of the most beginner-friendly Irish whiskeys available. The 375ml size also lowers the commitment for someone exploring the category.
Where is Tullamore Dew made? Tullamore Dew is produced at the Tullamore D.E.W. Distillery in Tullamore, County Offaly, in Ireland's midlands. The current distillery opened in 2014, returning production to the town where the whiskey originated in 1829.
What foods pair well with Tullamore Dew? Smoked salmon works well against its malty sweetness. Apple tart or crumble mirrors the green apple notes in the whiskey. Mild cheddar highlights the vanilla and cereal character. Dark chocolate balances the spicy finish, and roasted pork complements the gentle woodiness.

Is Tullamore Dew worth the price? Tullamore Dew positions squarely as an entry-level Irish whiskey that consistently over-delivers — its 88-point Whisky Advocate rating and 2024 TAG Global Spirits Awards Gold and Best Buy designations confirm strong value within the category.
Why Tullamore Dew?
The defining feature here is the triple blend. While most blended Irish whiskeys combine two styles of whiskey, Tullamore Dew was the original — and remains one of very few — to marry pot still, malt, and grain whiskeys together. That three-way blend, triple-distilled and matured across ex-bourbon, ex-sherry, and refill casks, produces a layered but accessible character that has collected over 21 international awards since 1999, including Double Gold at the World Spirits Competition. For a whiskey at this price tier, the complexity punches above its weight.
