Milestii Mici

Milestii Mici is a Moldovan winery known for its vast underground wine cellars. The Liquor Barn lists two Milestii Mici sparkling wines made by the Charmat method: Moldova De Lux Red from Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot (12% ABV) and Moldova De Lux White from Chardonnay, Sauvignon and Riesling (11% ABV).

The Milestii Mici cellars run for many miles of tunnels under the village of the same name, and the winery holds one of the largest wine collections in the world. The De Lux sparkling wines are made by the Charmat, or tank, method, which keeps the fruit fresh and bright. The White is crisp and fruity, a good everyday sparkler for toasts and holiday tables. The Red is a sparkling red, an Eastern European favorite, with dark berry fruit and soft bubbles that work with roast meats, sausages and chocolate desserts. Serve both well chilled.
