Maraska

Maraska is a Croatian distillery in Zadar on the Dalmatian coast, with roots going back to 1821, best known for Maraschino liqueur made from Marasca cherries. Its range covers fruit brandies at 40% ABV and liqueurs from 25% to 32% ABV. The Liquor Barn stocks Maraska Maraschino, Slivovica Plum, Slivovitz 10 Year, Wishniak Cherry, Cherry Wine and Maraschino Cherries, all in 750ml except the 14.1 oz jar of cherries.

For cocktails, Maraschino (32% ABV) is the bottle to buy. It is distilled from whole Marasca cherries and is essential in the Aviation, Last Word and Hemingway Daiquiri. For sipping, Slivovica is a double-distilled plum brandy, and the Slivovitz 10 Year adds a decade of oak aging. Wishniak (31% ABV) is a sweeter cherry liqueur, and Kruskovac is a pear liqueur at 25% ABV.

Maraska also makes Pelinkovac, a bitter wormwood herbal liqueur, Orahovac walnut liqueur, Kirsch cherry eau de vie, Williams Pear Brandy and Komovica grape brandy. The Maraschino Cherries are candied Marasca cherries with no artificial coloring, a real upgrade for a Manhattan or Old Fashioned.
