Hogue

Hogue Cellars is a Washington State winery in the Columbia Valley, founded in 1982 by Mike and Gary Hogue. It makes everyday varietal wines at about 11.5% to 13.8% ABV. The Liquor Barn carries Hogue Riesling and Hogue Gewurztraminer in 750ml, and lists Hogue Chardonnay, Pinot Grigio, Late Harvest Riesling, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

Hogue makes several aromatic whites. Hogue Riesling is off-dry and fruit-forward, night-harvested and fermented in stainless steel, a good match for spicy Thai or Indian food. The Gewurztraminer is off-dry too, with floral, lychee-like notes. Late Harvest Riesling is the sweet one for dessert or blue cheese. For reds, Hogue Cabernet Sauvignon is 100% Cabernet at 13.5% ABV and the Merlot is a soft, easy red at the same strength. The Chardonnay is fuller at 13.8% ABV.
