Half Acre

Half Acre Beer Company is an independent craft brewery in Chicago, Illinois, best known for Daisy Cutter, a 5.2% ABV West Coast pale ale. Its lineup runs from 4.5% ABV lagers to 12.8% ABV barrel-aged stouts. The Liquor Barn carries Daisy Cutter in 4-packs of 16oz cans, 6-packs, 12-packs and 19.2oz cans, plus Bodem IPA 12-packs, Gone Away IPA 4-packs and barrel-aged Benthic and Orin 2-packs.

Start with Daisy Cutter if you are new to Half Acre: a dry, piney pale ale that Chicago bars have poured for years. Hop fans should try Bodem (6.7% IPA), Gone Away (7% West Coast IPA) or Slow Melt, an IPA fermented with lager yeast. For something light, look for Pony Pils, Reef Knot Helles or the lime-accented Green Torch lager. The big bottles are the barrel program: Benthic is a bourbon barrel-aged imperial stout with coffee and toasted coconut, and Orin is a barrel-aged strong ale at 12.3%.
