Fat Bastard
Fat Bastard is a French wine brand from the Languedoc-Roussillon and Pays d'Oc region of southern France, produced by the négociant Gabriel Meffre. Each wine is a single varietal, made from 100% of the named grape. The Liquor Barn carries Fat Bastard Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, Cabernet Sauvignon, Sauvignon Blanc, Shiraz and Merlot in 750ml bottles.
The name comes from an experimental batch that was left on its lees longer than planned and turned out rich and full, earning a 'fat' description. Chardonnay is the signature wine: round, with ripe fruit and a creamy finish. Pinot Noir is light and fruity, good with salmon or roast chicken. Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz are the fuller reds for burgers and steak, and Sauvignon Blanc is crisp and citrusy.
