Boulard

Boulard is a Calvados Pays d'Auge, an apple brandy from Normandy, France, double distilled and aged in oak. The VSOP and XO Auguste are 40% ABV, and the XO Mizunara Cask Finish is 44% ABV. The Liquor Barn carries Boulard VSOP, XO Auguste and XO Mizunara Cask Finish in 750ml.

Pays d'Auge is the top Calvados appellation and requires double distillation, like Cognac. Boulard VSOP draws on about 120 apple varieties and shows baked apple, vanilla and light spice. It is a great sipper and a classic in a Jack Rose or Calvados Sidecar. XO Auguste uses older eaux de vie for dried fruit, toffee and depth.

The XO Mizunara is finished in rare Japanese Mizunara oak, which adds sandalwood and incense notes to the apple. It is a special bottle for brandy and Japanese whisky fans. Serve Boulard neat in a tulip glass, or after dinner with apple tart or cheese.
