Production & Heritage
Krug Rosé began in the cellar during the 1976 harvest, when brothers Henri and Rémi Krug decided to create a rosé in the Krug style, and it was presented in 1983. Like Krug Grande Cuvée, each blend draws on wines from several harvests, including reserve wines from the House's library, and each release is now identified by its Édition number. Its color and red-fruit character come from Pinot Noir fermented on its skins, blended in with the white wines before the long aging in Krug's cellars.
Tasting Notes
Aroma: Red berries and rose petal, with pink grapefruit zest and a peppery lift.
Taste: Fine, persistent bubbles carry red fruit, citrus and honey over a firm, fresh structure, with dried fruit and a savory depth from the macerated Pinot Noir.
Finish: Long and precise, with red fruit, citrus zest and a light toasty note.
How to Serve Krug Rosé
Serve Krug Rosé chilled, around 48 to 54°F (9 to 12°C), the range Krug recommends, in a white wine glass or a tulip-shaped Champagne glass rather than a narrow flute, which lets its aromas open. It shows best with food and can be enjoyed now or cellared for several years.
Best For
- Anniversaries, engagements and milestone celebrations
- A serious gift for a Champagne collector
- Pairing a prestige Champagne with dinner rather than just a toast
- Building a cellar of prestige cuvées
