International Shipping

International Shipping

You are importing goods from the U.S.A. Please read this page in full before placing an international order. All prices are in U.S. dollars.

No refunds for unpaid customs charges

The recipient is responsible for all customs duties, import taxes, provincial or national markups, and brokerage fees. If these charges are not paid, or the shipment is refused, abandoned, or not cleared through customs for any reason within the recipient's control, there are no refunds whatsoever. This applies to the product cost and all shipping charges. Due to current tariffs, import fees may be higher than you expect. Returned or abandoned packages are not refunded, and product that is not worth the cost of return shipping will be destroyed.

How It Works

  1. Check your country's rules first. Confirm that you can legally import alcohol for personal use and how much. See the country list below and your local customs authority.
  2. Place your order. International orders are placed at your own risk. The shipping amount shown at checkout is an estimate.
  3. We review your order. Every international order is reviewed before it ships. Gift orders from U.S. residents are subject to additional verification. We may reject or amend any order at our discretion.
  4. Send any required import documents. Some destinations, including Canadian provinces, require paperwork or a permit before customs will release your package. We hold your order until you confirm the required documents have been sent.
  5. We ship. Your order ships via DHL Express and you receive tracking by email.
  6. Pay duties and clear customs. The carrier or your local authority will contact you to collect duties, taxes, and fees before delivery. Pay promptly to avoid storage charges or return of the shipment.

Shipping Rates

International shipping rates shown at checkout are estimates only. After your order is placed, the shipping charge is adjusted to the actual carrier cost. Additional charges may apply for DHL Express Remote Area Surcharges.

You are not required to use the shipping option offered on our website. You can always arrange your own legal delivery service at your own risk.

Shipping charges cover transport only. They do not include customs duties, import taxes, markups, or brokerage fees in your country.

Customs, Duties & Taxes

You are the importer of record. You are responsible for paying all duties and taxes attached to the supply and delivery of your order, including customs duties, excise taxes, VAT or GST, provincial or national markups, and broker fees.

It is solely your responsibility to research the duties, markups, taxes, and quantity limits in your country before you place an order. Liquor Barn cannot estimate or prepay these charges.

Expect higher import fees right now. Because of current international trade conditions, including tariffs on goods from the United States, duties and import fees in many countries may be significantly higher than usual and can change without notice. Check with your local customs authority before you order.

All alcohol is sold for personal consumption only and not for resale, including resale at an event.

Shipping to Canada

We currently accept orders only from residents of Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario and Quebec. You must be of legal drinking age in your province and you may only import into your province of residence.

Authorization from your provincial liquor board must be obtained before customs will release your order. Each province charges a markup, and federal customs and excise taxes also apply. Most provinces allow individuals to import as long as the product is not resold.

Canadian order requirements

  • No gift orders. The billing and shipping names and addresses must match, unless the buyer and recipient are the same person.
  • Orders cannot ship to a province other than your province of residence.
  • Have these details ready for your liquor board: year, country of origin, manufacturer, alcohol content, brand, and proof of payment. Most of this is on your commercial invoice and order confirmation email.
  • We process your order but hold it until you confirm you have submitted the required documents (for Ontario, the Canada Customs Invoice). Without them, your package will not clear customs. If you would rather cancel, contact us before the order ships.

Province instructions

Province What to do
Ontario Read the LCBO importing information before ordering. Provide your customs broker a completed Canada Customs Invoice (CCI) listing brand name(s), vintage if applicable, alcohol by volume, format, quantity and accurate value.
Quebec Apply through the SAQ online import permit system.
British Columbia Contact the BC Liquor Distribution Branch for customs clearance.
Alberta Contact the AGLC customs team directly for customs clearance.

Returns & Refunds

THERE ARE NO REFUNDS WHATSOEVER ON INTERNATIONAL ORDERS IF CUSTOMS DUTIES, TAXES, MARKUPS OR BROKERAGE FEES ARE NOT PAID, OR IF THE SHIPMENT IS REFUSED OR ABANDONED.

THIS INCLUDES THE PRODUCT COST AND ALL SHIPPING CHARGES, IN BOTH DIRECTIONS.

  • All international sales are final. Due to customs complications, no returns are accepted.
  • If a package is returned to us because the purchaser declined, failed to complete, or did not pay for customs clearance, no shipping charges are refunded. Where the product value does not cover return shipping, the product will be destroyed and no refund will be issued.
  • Missing or incorrect import documents or permits are the purchaser's responsibility and are not grounds for a refund.
  • You may cancel for a full refund only before your order ships.
  • Damage in transit: report it with photos within the claim window in our Shipping Policy. Lost package claims for international shipments may be filed after 20 days and within 30 days of the last tracking update.
